Why, Google, Why?

Ever since I heard the announcement about Google taking away Google Reader, I've been a *little* upset.  Reader's probably my favorite Google product of all.  It's a simple, always-functioning way to keep up on all the blogs I follow.  So, of course, the Google gods are taking it away from me.  Waaahhhh!  I've been in denial since I heard the sad news, hoping Google would announce some kind of retraction.  It doesn't appear that that's going to happen, so ... I'm transferring my loyalties to Bloglovin'.  I'm still not even sure how the program works, but I'm trying to "claim" my blog and entice all of my wonderful followers to follow my blog via Bloglovin'.  What exactly that means, I don't even know ... darn you anyway, Google!

Is anyone else using Bloglovin' as an alternative to Reader?  What do you think?  Will I ever get used to this new program?  I hate change!

  1. I know, I had to do that too. I'm not sure where everyone's reading this from, but a lot of people are talking about it. It's bad for me since I'm a newbie and most of my followers are on GFC. It's just really annoying!

  2. Yup, I use bloglovin - that's how I'm reading this post! I switched over a month or so ago, and as a blog reader I now prefer it.

  3. My thoughts exactly. It's convenient and in one platform. Plus all the "lost" GFC friends. and Google plus ... I find that posting there is pretty annoying.

  4. Bloglovin' is great. I switched too and I get an email with a blogroll in it that is very similar to Google Reader. I'm very happy with it and am now considering finally leaving blogger to go to Typepad or some other blog service. Google Reader is one of the reasons I've been putting up with Google and now I don't need to! You'll love Bloglovin' - I promise!

  5. I use Bloglovin', but I can't speak for how good it is in comparison to Google Reader, as I never used the former. I hope you get on well with it.

  6. I started using bloglovin' because of Google Reader's demise as well, and though it's a bit annoying that I can't read the whole post on Bloglovin,' I will say it is pretty user friendly and I am mostly happy with it. :) Give me a couple months and I will let you know more :)

  7. Thanks for your comments, guys! I've been using Bloglovin' exclusively for the last week or so and I think I'm finally getting used to it. I don't love everything about it (not being able to read a full post in the reader annoys me, too, Pam!), but it does the job. I'll still miss Reader, though :(

Comments make me feel special, so go crazy! Just keep it clean and civil. Feel free to speak your mind (I always do), but be aware that I will delete any offensive comments.

P.S.: Don't panic if your comment doesn't show up right away. I have to approve each one before it posts to prevent spam. It's annoying, but it works!
