Hoppy Dreams of ARCs Aplenty

I still have reviews to write (3 and counting), but what's another day, right? They can wait while I do some Hopping. Click over to Crazy For Books to join in on my favorite Friday activity - The Book Blogger Hop.

Today's question is: What is the one ARC you would love to get your hands on right now?

My answer: Easy cheesy. Well, as long as I can choose two ARCs. It's a hypothetical question, after all, so I'm going with both Blood Wounds by Susan Beth Pfeffer and Ashes by Ilsa J. Bick.

(Image from Barnes & Noble)

I loved The Last Survivors, Susan Beth Pfeffer's post-apocalyptic YA series about teenagers scrabbling to survive in a country forever changed by violent natural disasters. Blood Wounds is also YA, but it's a contemporary mystery about a teen girl grappling to understand a violent crime committed by her father. Sounds uplifting, no? Well, no. Compelling, though, right? I've been begging Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for this one for a while now - unfortunately, my pleas seem to be falling on deaf ears. *Sniff* I may have to buy this one come September 13.

You may recall me raving about Ilsa J. Bick's debut novel Draw the Dark in this post. It was such a riveting read that I cannot wait to see what the author does in Ashes, her about-to-be-released dystopian thriller. I don't know anyone at EgmontUSA, but I seriously wish I did just so I could get my hands on this one. It comes out on September 6 and I, for one, cannot wait.

How about you? Which ARCs are you dreaming of?

If this is your first time here, welcome! I'm so glad you're visiting BBB. Take a look around, leave me a comment (or two, or three, or ten) and be sure to enter my giveaway for a boxed set of Maggie Stiefvater's Wolves of Mercy Falls series. If you've been here before, thanks so much for coming back. Your loyalty means a lot to me.

Have a wonderful weekend, everybody!

  1. Blood Wounds sounds very good. I'm going to have to check it out.

  2. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I love Maggie Stiefvater. She is totally awesome.

  3. I haven't heard of either of those books but they both look intriguing.

  4. ooh. ashes is actually sitting in my tbr pile (*cough*netgalley*cough*)

Just hopping back from Pretty in Fiction. You've been followed.

  5. Guess who's going to send you their ARC of Blood Wounds? ;) I'll have it in the mail next week!

  6. Both of the Susan Beth Pfeffer books sound great, and I am also looking forward to reading Ashes! Thanks for checking out my new little blog!!

  7. sorry to double comment, but I meant to tell you that Ashes is on netgalley right now. At least it was about a week ago! I've got it a few down in my review list.

  8. Thanks for the comments, everybody! Keep 'em coming - they seriously make my weekend.

Amanda - You are too good to me. Thanks SO much!

Those of you who mentioned Netgalley - is it weird that I only want PRINT ARCs? I just can't get into e-reading at all. I'm old-fashioned that way.

  9. I normally only read historical romance but I'm trying to break outta my shell so I may start with one of these.

    Have a fantastic weekend!

  10. Oh cool. Oh, I'm sure the more you keep reviewing, the more people will follow, the more tasty you'll be.:)

I was looking for comments all over the place then saw '10 bookworms said...' ha ha. Takes a genius sometimes with me.

Thanks for stopping by yesterday too

  11. I haven't heard of either of these ones, but they look great!

  12. I am eagerly awaiting both of those books! :]

Thanks for stopping by my blog! Have a great weekend!

    Nora, The Bookery

  13. I haven't heard of either of these book buts I am interested hehehe! Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier :D

    - Kylie

  14. Thanks for stopping by my Hop :)!
I highly recommend any book by Ellen Hopkins, her books are absolutely amazing! My two best friends and I are absolutely obsessed with her novels and always buy them whenever they first come out :D!

  15. Those are both great picks! Thanks for dropping by my blog. I am now following!

  16. Thanks for stopping by and answering the ARC question. Nope I do not like ARC's. It doesn't happen frequently, however, once I'm attached to a story "as is" I don't like modifications.

Comments make me feel special, so go crazy! Just keep it clean and civil. Feel free to speak your mind (I always do), but be aware that I will delete any offensive comments.

P.S.: Don't panic if your comment doesn't show up right away. I have to approve each one before it posts to prevent spam. It's annoying, but it works!
