Top Ten Tuesday: Book-Covered Books
1:00 AM
It's Tuesday, which can only mean one thing ... it's time for my favorite weekly meme! The Top Ten Tuesday topic du jour is a book cover freebie. Freebies often stump me, but with this one, I knew right away that I wanted to feature bookish book covers. After all, there's nothing I love more than a lovely cover showcasing my favorite hobby in all its beautiful, cozy, whimsical glory. I'll get to some favorites in a moment ... but first, I urge you to join in the TTT fun by visiting That Artsy Reader Girl, skimming a few guidelines, making your own list, then clicking around the book blogosphere to check out other bloggers' posts. It's a good time, I promise.
Without further ado, here we go with my Top Ten Favorite Bookish Book Covers:
Happy TTT!

The one book that came immediately to mind was The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield.
ReplyDeleteThat's actually the first one that came to my mind, too, but I wanted to highlight some not as well-known bookish books.
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
I really enjoyed your take on this TTT! I love books which have books on their covers too! One that I read recently and liked the cover of was The bookish life of Nina Hill🙂
ReplyDeleteYes, NINA HILL definitely fits the bill. I'm not a huge fan of illustrated covers, so I didn't include that one. I enjoyed the book, though!
DeleteThanks for coming by!
I'm always drawn to a bookish book cover. I think my favorite of these is The Book Charmer. That looks like a cozy reading spot. :)
ReplyDeleteMine, too. I love the calming colors and the way the cover is set up. I could definitely curl up in that chair and make my way through that lovely book stack!
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
I love books with books on the cover. And I read the Little Bookshop on the Seine this month and really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteOh, really? I'm glad to hear it's a good one. It's on my TBR mountain chain, so I'll get to it ... someday :)
DeleteThanks for coming by, Barb!
I like the first two covers but I also like some of these titles though I don't like their covers.
ReplyDeleteI can't think of any books with books on the cover expect Matilda by Dahl.
Have a lovely day.
I was going to put MATILDA on my list, but I don't actually like any of the covers I've seen for it. Illustrated covers really aren't my thing.
DeleteThanks for coming by, Lissa!
Nice covers! It's funny, I've seen the cover of Words in Deep Blue a number of times and it never occurred to me that they were books.
ReplyDeleteRight? I didn't realize that at first either. It was only when I looked closer that I realized they were books. Such a clever design!
DeleteThanks, as always, for coming by and commenting, Helen!
That cover for Words in Deep Blue really caught my eye!
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely eye-catching and I love that you have to look a little closer to realize what the design actually is.
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
Love these! (But then who can resist bookish covers...or bookish books?)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not me! I love a good bookish cover - even better when the story inside is excellent as well.
DeleteThanks, as always, for coming by and commenting, Lark!
Not only did I adore Words in Deep Blue, I loved the cover. The blue hues were gorgeous together, and I liked that the books weren't super obvious from far away
ReplyDeleteOh, good, I'm glad the book is as good as it looks. That isn't always the case, unfortunately.
DeleteThanks, as always, for stopping by and commenting, Sam!
Great list! Those are some cool covers! I like how you interpreted the theme!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It was fun to find all these lovely bookish covers :)
DeleteThanks for coming by!
Look at all this bookish eye candy. Words in Deep Blue and The Librarian of Auschwitz are especially charming. I need to check those out.
ReplyDeleteRight? I really love the Auschwitz one. I haven't read the book yet. I'm hoping it's as touching as the cover hints it will be :)
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
OMG this is the cutest idea!!!!! And I want to read them all!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It was fun to put together.
DeleteThanks for coming by!
All of these have great covers. Christmas at the Mysterious Bookshop sounds good.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I hadn't heard of it before I found the cover through a Google search.
DeleteThanks for coming by!
Oh I like your take on the topic!
ReplyDelete(www.evelynreads.com)
Thank you! I had a fun time with it :)
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
Love all the bookish cover, Susan! I’ve read Words in Deep Blue, which I didn’t love as much as everyone else seemed to. (Odd man out again!)
ReplyDeleteHa ha. That happens sometimes! Different strokes for different folks and all that.
DeleteThanks for coming by, Tanya!
Considering that I've read so many "bookstore books," I can't believe that I haven't read any of the ones you chose.
ReplyDeleteTwo that come to mind from my 2019 reading that had nice covers are: "The Bar Harbor Retirement Home for Famous Writers (And Their Muses)" and "The Bookshop of Yesterdays."
I haven't read either of the two you mention, but I really like the cover for BAR HARBOR. I would have definitely included it in this list if I'd seen it before now.
DeleteThanks, as always, for coming by and commenting, Sam!
I LOVE what you did with this weeks TTT, and these covers are beautiful. The Book Charmer is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteAsh @ JennReneeRead
Thanks! It was a fun topic. THE BOOK CHARMER is my favorite of the lot, too. I'm excited to see if the book is as lovely as its cover.
DeleteThanks for stopping by, Ash!
What a great choice. I love book covers and I love all of these. There are actually a couple on her that are not on my TBR, so off to check them out.
ReplyDeleteOh, good! I hope you enjoy the ones you decide to read. I've only read two of them myself, so I have a lot of catching up to do. We're reading THE BOOK WOMAN OF TROUBLESOME CREEK for book club, so I'll be getting to that one soon.
DeleteThanks, as always, for coming by and commenting, Carla!
One of the books I'm reading at the moment, Howards End is on the Landing by Susan Hill, has an absolutely gorgeous bookish cover. It's a non-fiction charting the author's quest to read only the books she owns for a whole year. Love books about books and reading.
ReplyDeleteOoooh, that cover is gorgeous! The book sounds really good, too. I'm putting it on my TBR list.
DeleteThanks, as always, for stopping by and commenting, Cath!
Hallo, Hallo Susan!
ReplyDelete*waves!* Wicked happy I can finally add some lovely comments into your blog! I've also added you to my sidebar - where I like to place the book bloggers I love visiting often! (big smiles) I'm going to be reading through your posts late tonight - don't be surprised if you wake to some new comments from me!
It is lovely to find someone who likes reading the same stories I do whilst at the same time responds with such a heart of kindness to their original comments on someone's blog (like mine!). Truly gave me a lift of spirits and I am full of gratitude.
The stories you've listed which are on my TBR are: The Book Charmer and Check Me Out! I love book covers which are bookishly inclined and you had a lovely selection!
Aw, Jorie, you're making me blush! I'm thrilled to have found you and your blog. I'm looking forward to lots more interaction with you.
DeleteCHECK ME OUT is a fun one. I haven't read THE BOOK CHARMER YET, but it's definitely on my TBR list.
Thanks for coming by and commenting!
Is it bad that the only book I can think of with books on the cover is Matilda..?
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the covers for The Book Charmer, Back When You Were Easier to Love, and The Library at the Edge of the World. This post makes me want to start making a TBR for young adult books that have books on the cover and see how many I can find!
Ha ha. No, not at all. MATILDA is one of the first books that came to my mind as well, but even though the covers are bookish, I don't love any of the ones I've seen for the book, so I didn't put it on the list.
DeleteI haven't found many YA books with books on the cover other than BACK WHEN YOU WERE EASIER TO LOVE. I'm sure there are some. I'll be interested to see what you find.
Thanks for coming by!
Book covered books! That's a fun theme. I haven't read any of these, but I like the cover of Words In Deep Blue. It makes me think of bathroom tiles :P
ReplyDeleteYes, I thought tiles at first, too. It's a cool design that makes you look closer to see what's really going on. I love that!
DeleteThanks for stopping by, Jenna!
I have a copy of Words in Deep Blue and didn't even realize that those were books on the cover. Geez! These are some great covers :)
