A Winner and a Hopper

First off, I want to announce the winner of One Breath Away by Heather Gudenkauf.  It's Linda Brower.  Congratulations, Linda!  If you would please send your snail mail address to me at blogginboutbooksATgmailDOTcom, I'll pass it on to the publicist, who will send the book to you.
Thanks to all who entered the giveaway.  If you didn't win this time, don't despair.  You can still enter to win a copy of Dan Wells' new psychological/supernatural thriller, The Hollow City by clicking here.  And, of course, you must stay tuned because I will definitely be hosting more book giveaways in the near future.

It's Friday again and, since my favorite book blogging party is back (Yay!), I'll definitely be taking part.  If you haven't heard of the Book Blogger Hop, click over to Crazy For Books to get all the details.  It's a fabulous way to discover exciting new book blogs and to help others find yours.  I love spreading the book blogging love every week.  So.  Much.  Fun.

This week's question is: Who is your go-to author when you are in a reading rut?

- Honestly, when people talk about reading ruts, I have no idea what they're going on about.  A reading rut? Isn't that like an oxymoron or something?  I never get tired of reading.  Never.  Are there times when I get a little cranky after reading a bunch of mediocre books in a row?  Sure.  When that happens, I do turn to some old favorites.  These folks can always reignite my reading passion when it starts to burn a little dim:  Kathy Reichs, Jodi Picoult, Neal Shusterman, Maeve Binchy (Just read on her website that Maeve Binchy died less than two weeks ago.  How did I miss this news?  Sad day for her fans, of which I am definitely one.), L.A. Meyer, Joanne Harris, Patrick Ness, Brandon Sanderson, Robyn Carr, and the list goes on and on and on ...

How about you?  Who are your go-to authors?

If you're visiting BBB for the first time, welcome!  I'm so glad you're here.  Take a look around, leave me a comment or two (or three or four), and, most of all, enjoy the browse.  I promise to return the favor.  And, to my trusty old followers, a heartfelt thanks for your support.  Happy reading, everyone!

  1. I have a few favorite authors I go to when I am in a rut to get myself jump-started again. They usually have a book I haven't read yet. I find that one thing that puts me in a reading rut is when I have an ARC that I need to read and review. That is one of the reasons I don't accept very many ARC books. I read for my own entertainment, and don't like to have a planned reading schedule.

  2. I could use a comfort read about now. Markus Zusak anyone? ;)

  4. I think that once your in a "reading rut", classics (rather than reignite your passion for books) give you comfort and you remember what GOOD writing is supposed to be like. Like your favorite pair of sweats. You wear them when you want comfort an functionality.

  5. I do like some Joanne Harris but I'm not always in the mood for her.

Jodi Picoult on the other hand I can never resist...

  6. How have I missed your blog? I'm glad you found mine, My Bookshelf, so I could in turn find yours. I just perused a few of your post titles and I love them! So much better than just using the book title and author's name, like I do!

  7. I don't consider a reading rut to be when I don't want to read (because I am like you, I don't think I'll ever not want to read) a rut is more when I can't find something that will keep my interest, and that's when I go back to one of my favorites, usually something light and funny.

  9. I know what you mean - how could you ever get tired of reading, when every book is a different world? :)

  10. You're blog is too cute - love the designs.

I've never read Jodi Picoult, though I have seen one of her movies (I know, I know - not the same.) :)

Thank you for stopping by my blog!

  12. So sorry to hear about Maeve Binchy--I hadn't heard, so thanks for posting.I love her books as well. I also love your rating system!
I suppose I would consider a rut to be when I can't find a really, really good book to read, but that doesn't mean a rut like I would stop looking for such a book...:) Then there's the opposite "problem" when I have a whole lot of books that I don't have time to read that look really good. It probably balances out somehow... :)

Comments make me feel special, so go crazy! Just keep it clean and civil. Feel free to speak your mind (I always do), but be aware that I will delete any offensive comments.

P.S.: Don't panic if your comment doesn't show up right away. I have to approve each one before it posts to prevent spam. It's annoying, but it works!
