It's a Mull World, After All
So, the picture's a little blurry (camera phone), but, as you can (kinda) see, the fam and I went to see Brandon Mull last night. We all love his Fablehaven series, so we were excited to meet Brandon and have him sign some books for us. We were some of the first ones at Deseret Book last night, so we had lots of time to talk to him. Brandon was wonderful - very personable and fun. We all enjoyed chatting with him. The kids were especially star struck :) My 12-year-old kept saying, "I can't believe I actually got to talk to Brandon Mull!"
If you live in the Mesa/Phoenix area, be sure to stop by and see Brandon. He'll be at the East Mesa Costco this afternoon (starting at 11, I think) and later, at Changing Hands Bookstore in Tempe. You can see his other tour stops here.
Lastly, I promised Brandon I would check out the book trailer to A World Without Heroes, the first book in his new Beyonders series and post it if I found it to be "blog-worthy." I do, so here it is:

Hey Susan, My boys went with their dad a couple weeks ago to meet Brandon Mull. But being a dad he did not get any pictures I couldn't believe this was something I should of instructed him on. They also very much liked meeting him and said he was a real down to earth guy.
ReplyDeleteWe Just started # 5 of Fable Haven, they have been our read aloud the last couple months. We absolutely love them. The boys bought the new Beyonoders book for Brandon to sign.
April - Shame on Buck! LOL. I actually grabbed our nice camera, but it was out of batteries. Oh well. Brandon Mull was really nice, very down-to-Earth. I bought the Beyonders for him to sign, too. I can't wait to read it!
ReplyDeleteI love Brandon Mull! Haven't read the Beyonders yet. I got the galley, but never got the time to read it. :( That trailer looks so good! One of the best book trailers I've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteThat picture makes a bibliophile grandmother shiver! I love that they got to meet one of their favorite authors.
ReplyDeleteHow neat for you to be able to meet an author that your whole family cherishes!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the family photo!! Now that's a Book-family!
ReplyDeleteI thought Brandon Mull was awesome when I met him in Tucson at the Book Festival. He was great as a speaker and was so prepared but he was like a sparkler and came alive when the kids asked questions. My photo with him is on display in my classroom with our Fablehaven copies!! The kids think I am the famous one :)
I loved the Book trailer and had the app on my phone to download it on site. It was so cool and such a neat way to promote literacy. I haven't started Beyonders yet, but soon!
Enjoy spring!
Dang, I found your blog a couple of days TOO LATE!! I LOVE Brandon Mull - I started reading him because my middle school English students read him. I live in MESA and didn't even see that he was coming. Oh well. Now, I'm a follower of your blog. Nice job with the reviews and interviews. :)
ReplyDeleteLucia - I agree. I usually hate book trailers, but this one is pretty well done.
ReplyDeleteLaurel - It was fun!
BookBelle - I know, right? It was a great opportunity for all of us.
Gaye - How funny. He did seem to enjoy talking to the kids, especially. And vice versa.
Stephanie - Bummer! I don't think his appearances here were advertised very well. I just happened to go into Deseret Book on Thursday and see a small flyer for his visit on Friday. And Costco didn't even have a sign up - the cashier just mentioned his visit when she saw I bought the Beyonders book. Too bad you missed seeing him :(
