Sorry 'Bout That
2:17 PM
For those of you that read BBB in a feeder, I have to apologize for posts going up and then, minutes later, disappearing. This happens because of me, your boneheaded hostess (C'mon now, you can at least act like you're surprised!). A dozen couple of times in the last month I've accidentally hit "Publish Post" instead of "Save Now" while drafting my reviews. Although I delete the unfinished posts from the blog itself, they still show up in the reader, a fact I didn't realize until just now when I subscribed to my own feed. Super annoying, that. I do have an excuse for my airheadedness: I'm off my meds (be afraid, be very afraid). Actually, my doctor ordered me to take half my usual dose of levathyroxine in preparation for blood tests which will determine whether or not I still have cancer cells floating around in my body. If we get the desired results, it will mean no more radioactive iodine treatments this year (In your face, cancer!). In the meantime, I'm trying to keep myself focused and awake without frittering my life's savings away on Mr. Dew. So, anyway, if you noticed anything screwy with my feed, you now know why.
In other news, I'm still working on an index of all my reviews. Some of you have asked why I don't just use one of Blogger's search features. My answer is that, while the search boxes work, they're not specific enough for my tastes. In other words, if you search "Fablehaven," you won't necessarily get the review you're looking for - you'll get every post where I mentioned the book, even if it was just in passing. I think an index, searchable by author name and title of the book, will be much easier to use. If you disagree, feel free to use the search box in the top lefthand corner of this screen.
In other other news, I just finished the most disturbing novel I've read in awhile - Chosen by Chandra Hoffman. Adoptive parents, birthparents, prospective adoptive parents, and anyone even remotely associated with adoption will probably want to steer clear of this one. Sounds intriguing, no? Look for that review sometime this week. After finishing that one, I planned to dive right into Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare, but I made the mistake of opening Chasing Orion by Kathryn Lasky. Now, I'm totally immersed in the story of a girl in the early 1950s who befriends a teenager in an iron lung. It's fascinating.
So, lots to come. Definitely stay tuned. And if anything wonky happens on the feed, let me know. 'Til then, Happy Reading!

Comments make me feel special, so go crazy! Just keep it clean and civil. Feel free to speak your mind (I always do), but be aware that I will delete any offensive comments.
P.S.: Don't panic if your comment doesn't show up right away. I have to approve each one before it posts to prevent spam. It's annoying, but it works!

(1) I hate that whole posting but not really. In my case, I meant to post date a post and just hit the post now button instead. Fail.
ReplyDelete(2) I am intrigued both with the adoption and the iron lung. Could you imagine a book that included both?
(3) When I was a child the concept of 'iron long' was beyond me, no matter how many times it was explained. I pictured this metal device that wrapped itself around the lungs internally.
The way to get around the post showing in reader is to edit the published post. You can change the title and the writing and it replaces the old post in reader. Still shows up in facebook if you autopublish there, but it works in readers.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see all the reviews. I add a lot to my to-read lists based on what you say.
I hate when I do that!! It happens a lot to me, lol!
ReplyDeleteI hate it when I click on 'publish' then notice a typo or formatting error in a post. Must...be...more...careful. But I do what Charlotte has said, so I don't think it double posts in blogger feeds.
ReplyDeleteWow, I didn't know about your situation. But it's great you're becoming better now! :)
