Skunk Girl vs. Rowan the Strange: My Nerds Heart YA Decision

So, the third round of the Nerds Heart YA tournament is coming to an end. I'm in the difficult position of having to judge between two worthy contenders - Skunk Girl by Sheba Karim and Rowan the Strange by Julie Hearn. While I enjoyed both books, it's the latter that really moved me. It's original, funny, and surprisingly touching (despite the horrid cover). For those reasons, I'm advancing Rowan the Strange to the next round. Go, Ro!

  1. Thanks so much for being a judge (and doing individual reviews, love that). The semis are certainly shaping up very differently than anyone expected (no sure anyone looking at that cover expected Rowan to still be here, but it deserves to be there).

  2. Hooray for Ro! So glad you loved it, too, and that's he's advancing in the tournament. Hopefully it'll be available in the U.S. soon and many other readers will grab it.

  3. Wow - looks like Ro could really go all the way!

  4. Woo-hoo!! That little Rowan is so surprising isn't it! Awesome that it moved on. :D

Comments make me feel special, so go crazy! Just keep it clean and civil. Feel free to speak your mind (I always do), but be aware that I will delete any offensive comments.

P.S.: Don't panic if your comment doesn't show up right away. I have to approve each one before it posts to prevent spam. It's annoying, but it works!
