A Life Well Read Should Always Include a Giveaway

It's official - the holidays have begun. Sure, Costco has had Christmas decorations since July 4th, but now that I hear carols on the radio, I know it's really time to begin thinking about The Big Day. Well, if you have a book lover on your list this year (psst - there's nothing wrong with putting a little somethin' somethin' for yourself under the tree), you are going to thank me, because I have found The. Perfect. Gift. Introducing ... drumroll, please ... A Life Well Read:

This is a gorgeous keepsake box in which to keep all of your thoughts on books. Five divider tabs allow you to organize your lists of: My Books, Books On Loan, Books I Want, Books To Give, and My Favorites. Seven blank dividers are also included. Fifty large cards allow you to record books read, rate them and jot down your "notes and impressions." Fun extras include bookplates, gift labels, 3 cards for gifting, cards for keeping track of book club reads, and a fancy pen. All of this fits into the lovely box pictured above. It's a beautiful, old-fashioned kind of gift, perfect for all the book lovers on your list. For more details or to buy A Life Well Read, click here.

Now, A Life Well Read retails at $29.95, which, considering the state of the economy, may be a little out of the Christmas budget this year. But, wait! I have great news: The folks who created this lovely keepsake box have agreed to give one lucky winner a box of their own. I'm so excited about this giveaway - really, it's like celebrating Christmas a month early!

So, how can you win your very own keepsake box? Read on:

For one entry: Leave a comment on this post, telling me your favorite "bookish" gifts to give or get at Christmastime.

For one additional entry: Mention this giveaway on your blog.

That's it. I will draw the name of 1 winner on November 16. Because A Life Well Read will be shipped directly from the manufacturer, it can only be delivered to addresses in The U.S. Good luck!

Speaking of giveaways, don't forget that Red Sea by E.A. Benedek is still up for grabs. Only 2 people have entered so far, so the odds are spectacular. You can read all about the giveaway here.

  1. Oh please let me win! It's beautiful! As for a bookish gift is it totally lame to say a gift certificate?

  2. This is just beautiful! I love it! I'd have to say a good bookish gift is a bookmark (as a stocking stuffer.)

  3. Last year I gave 3 friends each a nice bookbag with an Amazon.com giftcard inside. They were thrilled to be able to "pick their own" books. Happy holidays everyone!

  4. This is one of those creations that makes me wonder, "Why didn't *I* think of that?" What an ingenious little box! And gorgeous too - please enter me into the giveaway.

As for a bookish gift - I absolutely love grabbing up tons of YA books from the used book store for my girls at Christmas!

  5. For my father-in-law last year we had a customized bookplate done. Well, a stamp. Perfect for anyone with a large library, especially if they like to loan book.

This giveaway would make a perfect "suprise" gift for me under the tree. When I win, have it shipped to Aaron. ;)

  6. Would love to win! I am a voracious reader, along with an older brother and my niece. With my brother, we sometimes gift either other with gift cards to Barnes & Noble or Borders. With my niece, we trade books we've already read. It's a little difficult since she lives in Germany, but she comes home at least twice a year, so we save books for each other.

  7. I'd love to be entered! My favorite bookish gifts for Christmas are gift certificates, of course! That way the person can choose whatever book suits their fancy.

I've added this giveaway to my blog sidebar!

  11. That's a very cool box -- such a good idea. As others have said, I enjoy giving or getting book gift certificates. If I know someone wants a specific book, then I'll buy that, but I figure that most people would rather pick something they'd like than me trying to guess.

  17. OOOh I love the idea. Please include me in the giveaway.

A bookiah type gift could be one of the book lights. A personalized bookmark. Some bookends (for the bookcase of course)

  19. Fun give away. Do actual books count as bookish Christmas gifts. Here's the poem I use when deciding how many presents to give our kidoes -

    Something they want
    Something they need
    Something to wear
    Something to READ!

I have also given book light-wedges as gifts, though I ended up finding one under the gift-recievers bed, and I took it back for myself!

I just found your blog via your comment in my sister Mary's blog. I hope I win!

  20. This is an awesome giveaway! I love to give and receive gift certificates to local book stores. One of my friends went shopping with me to deseret books and we showed each other the books we wanted to read. Guess what we both got for Christmas? That was fun!

  21. Hello! I enjoy reading fiction, biography, and educational books. My favorite bookish gifts are bookmark and a gift certificate.

I have added a link of your giveaway blog in my blog.

I look forward reading your blog.

  22. Any kind of gift that has anything to do with a book is my type of gift! At Christmas time I leave book catalogs open with my wish list circled - just a subtle hint for my husband! :) Thanks for a chance to win! sagirl2(at)gmail(dot)com
