2022 Literary Escapes Challenge

The 52 Book Club's Reading Challenge 2022

2022 Build Your Library Reading Challenge

Something Wicked(ly Fun) That Way Goes

Phew! I finished the R.I.P. II Challenge. I saved the longest books on my list for last, which wasn't a very smart idea, so I ended up having to sprint to the finish line. My eyes are bleary and red from my frenzied final stretch!
I really enjoyed this challenge, although I found myself steering away from the horror genre and focusing more on magical stories. My least favorite pick was Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill (my review), and I really can't pick my most favorite. It's a toss-up between Lord of the Rings, Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, Stardust and A Series of Unfortunate Events. Really, the only book I read for this challenge that I didn't care much for was Heart-Shaped Box. Well, there was also Glass Books of the Dream-Eaters, which was just too erotic for me (I read Lord of the Rings in its place).
Thanks so much, Carl, for hosting this one. It was a lot of fun!

Congrats on finishing!
ReplyDeleteYou had some long and challenging books on your list, no wonder you had to sprint to the end. Well done on finishing!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't overly nuts about Heart-Shaped Box either, but I thought it was OK. You read some great books for this challenge though! Some of my favorites. I love Stardust, Jonathan Strange, and I'm a huge Tolkien fan :) AND I've got some good news for you over on my blog ;)
ReplyDeleteChris - I'm now going to go buy a lottery ticket! I have been so lucky in the past few weeks - I know you don't believe this, but I really never win anything. Thanks for the book. I'm so excited to read it. I'll send you an email in a sec.
ReplyDeleteFor all of you LDS readers out there - I was joking about the lottery ticket :)
