Book Spotlight: The London Restoration by Rachel McMillan

In recent ye

ars, I've tried to scale back on how many scheduled reviews I commit to, but my greedy, book-loving heart just can't say no! Over-committing myself then leads to stress, procrastination, and guilt over missed deadlines. So, I've made the difficult decision not to schedule any more reviews/blog tour stops after December 31, 2020. I'll still be reviewing books, of course, just on my time. Hopefully, that will help keep reading and blogging fun and low-stress for me.

One of the books I wasn't able to get to on time is The London Restoration by Rachel McMillan. I love historical fiction, especially novels about World War II, so I'm definitely planning to read this one at some point. The plot summary is certainly intriguing:

From author Rachel McMillan comes a richly researched historical romance that takes place in post-World War II London and features a strong female lead.

London, Fall 1945. Diana wants nothing more than to begin again with her husband Brent after their separation during the war, but her signing of the Official Secrets Act keeps him at a distance.

Brent Somerville, professor of theology at King’s College, hopes aiding his wife with her church consultations will help him better understand why she disappeared when he needed her most. But he must find a way to reconcile his traumatic experiences as a stretcher bearer on the European front with her obvious lies about her wartime activities and whereabouts.

Featuring a timeless love story bolstered by flashbacks and the excavation of a priceless Roman artifact, The London Restoration is a richly atmospheric look at post-war London as two people changed by war rebuild amidst the city’s reconstruction.
