The good thing about being up at 4:30 a.m. on Christmas morning with a low blood sugar episode is that it's peaceful and calm in my home. Just me, the glowing tree, and a cup of eggnog to treat my low. In years past, my kids would be wide awake at this hour, too excited to sleep and begging to be able to open their presents. Now, I only have teenagers at home. If we didn't have church at 9, they probably wouldn't wake up until noon, even on this special day!
