I'm excited, too! We're combining regular sightseeing and family history sightseeing, so we'll fly into London, then drive all over England, Wales, and Scotland. Then, we're taking the chunnel to Paris for a few days. I'm a little bummed that we're skipping Ireland, but we've already got A LOT to see in just two weeks.

You have to be vaccination (which is no problem since we're all vaccinated anyway), but some intense testing is required in-country. Basically, we're going to spend what we saved on discounted airfare on COVID testing. Oh well. I'm tired of rescheduling the trip—it will be worth the hassle. I don't really blame you for staying home, though!

I don't love flying, especially these days with masks and all, but it will be worth it. There's so much I want to see, in the U.K. especially, that I really am getting more excited every day. Literally walking in my ancestors' steps just really appeals to my genealogy-loving soul :)

The only other book I've read by Barnes is THE LOVELY AND THE LOST, which I didn't love. I really enjoyed THE INHERITANCE GAMES, though. It's just very entertaining.

I've been diving deep, finding the actual roads that my ancestors lived on, the churches they were christened and married in, etc. I can't wait to visit all these spots! I just started THE GOLD IN THESE HILLS and I'm liking it so far, although I've only read a few pages. I'm planning to pick up BOTTOMLAND at the library when my Sager book comes in, which will be any day now hopefully.

We're flying into London, traveling all over England, then into Wales and Scotland. We're going to end our trip by taking the chunnel to Paris for a few days. That's only the tip of the iceberg as far as what I want to see in Europe, but we're going to fit in as much as we can in our two weeks. Maybe I'll travel to Germany sometime in the future!

They are all great desitinations. What a shame you couldn't add Ireland to your island experience, it's wonderful.

And if it wasn't Corona time and I'd be in better health, I'd even travel to Paris to meet you. So, whenever you plan to come the next time, send me a message and I might even be able to be your tour guide to some places.

Sager's a big fan favorite. His books generally have a spooky tone to them. They're very atmospheric and gripping. I recommend them if you're in to that kind of thing :)
