Susan, could the book your son is looking for be SUPER FAST, OUT OF CONTROL by Louis Sachar. It seems to have a bunch of the elements although there is a Suicide Hill and Louis Sachar is certainly a popular author that teachers seem to favor for group reads. Here's the link at Amazon:

I love how you did your blog but one thing i am confused with is how did you make the labels? i know that you go to the add gadget then labels, i just dont know how you name them and stuff! or what?! help!

I'm enjoying your site. Hey, have you read/reviewed Austenland? I read it today and had mixed feelings -- loved the first half, but somehow wasn't satisfied by the ending.

Hi Shelby - When you're typing your post in Blogger, you can create labels for it using the box that says "Labels for this post e.g. scooters, vacations, fall, etc." This box appears right under the box where you type and to the right of where it says "Post Options." Blogger automatically groups together all posts that have the same labels.

Then, if you want your labels to appear on your blog as a kind of directory, you have to add the "Labels" option in the "Layout" section of your blog. Like you said, you go to whatever section you want the labels in (right sidebar, left sidebar, the bottom of your blog, etc.), click "Add a Gadget," then "Labels." A list of your labels should automatically appear. If you haven't labeled any posts, I'm guessing nothing will show up. If you have, you should have a list of labels appear where you placed it.

Kay - That's funny that you think he gave a lot of clues, because I told him there was no way I could find a book based on that little bit of information. Thankfully, I know where to find a lot of librarians/teachers/readers and I was pretty sure one of you all would recognize it. I'm so glad you did!
