I've never been to New York, so I was going off the author's description of Jackson Heights.

I agree - I'm a white person and I go to these kinds of cultural events to learn, not to gawk. That's why I found Das' comment so interesting. I honestly never thought of participating in cultural events as "gawking." Interesting.

Nicole - You're very welcome!Susanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05344704891037668456noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32315311.post-21230431109487352932010-01-06T15:09:09.852-08:002010-01-06T15:09:09.852-08:00This comment has been removed by the author.Susanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05344704891037668456noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32315311.post-75066717653175654642010-01-06T08:27:56.186-08:002010-01-06T08:27:56.186-08:00Susan - thank you for your detailed and honest rev...Susan - thank you for your detailed and honest review. However, would just like to say that there are a LOT of non-Indians in Jackson Heights, white and otherwise, and I don't think people are necessarily coming to gawk. They live there (there are a lot of Indians, a lot of whites, a lot of Hispanics, Tibetans, Nepalis, etc--every nationality/ethnicity you can think of) and see festivals happening and stop to learn.Fionahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04175988518794409281noreply@blogger.com
